So I included the 2.7 library in the distribution. I do recall that when I had Crystal XI (11.0) installed some VS programs wouldn't work without the 2.7 library but I figured that was because I had Crystal 9,10,and XI installed on the computer. You then go in and remove the Crystal X references from your VS tools and add the Crystal XI references.Ĭrystal 10 used 2.7 libraries, Crystal XI (11.0) used 3.0 libraries, and Crystal XI R2 (11.5) used 3.5 libraries. The exact same program using VB.net (2003) and Crystal XI (11.0) works on a windows xp computer as well.Īny conflict with Crystal X can be fixed by installing or reinstalling Crystal XI after VS 2003, VS 2005, and possiby VS 2008 has been installed.

The exact same program compiled in VB.net (2005) on a windows xp computer runs fine and is embedded in our software solutions. I've compiled a VB.net(2005) program using the embeddable designer of 11.5 and while Crystal XI release 2 runs on the computer and the program compiles and can be run from within visual studio, it crashes when trying to run it outside of Visual Studio. Meanwhile, Visual Studio 2005 on Windows7 machine with Crystal XI Developer release 2 (11.5) runs into the same problem. (Windows7) While everything still exists in Windows7 it is using a different naming convention, etc.

Remember, Microsoft renamedthe SDK's in framework 3.5. I think the conflict may be in Microsoft rather than Crystal X. The problem would have shown up in Visual Studio 2003 and Visual Studio 2005 if it were merely a problem with the embedded Crystal X version in 2003, 2005, and 2008. The problem is not what you don't know it's what you think you know that's wrong The project references are set to be version specific. I have had to already amend the dependancy checker to run in compatability mode to stop it crshing on compile, is the same sort of thing? I also have multiple versions of Crsytal reports installed as we have various projects that run different versions.

Does anyone have any idea as to which component is causing this, is it VS or Windows 7 or the CR dll.
Could not load activex crystal report viewer code#
Since the upgrades the code crashes the entire program at Dim cReport. By default, ActiveX only works on applications that were also made by Microsoft – that includes Internet Explorer, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.Dear all, This is is not a query about the windows wrapped version of CR, I have a developers version of CR XI installed with VS2008 The following code was used very successfully until I updated the program from VS2005 to VS2008 and the machine to windows 7 'open new instance of report viewer form and set report to show and selection criteriaĭim cReport As New

Why write the same thing over and over again? How to Enable ActiveX on Google ChromeĬonsidering that ActiveX is obviously very useful, why isn’t it already enabled across all browsers? The answer lies in the fact that this technology was created by Microsoft. The same goes for other apps that require spell-checking. So, in this case, a spell checker object was created and it was easily implemented in both of these apps.

There is no need to create a spell checker for both applications from scratch. Since there’s a need for the same functions in both cases, programmers came up with this concept that allows them to use the same code for both applications. But applications like Outlook Express use spell checkers too. The first application that comes to mind is Microsoft Word.

We’ll use applications that have spell checking capabilities. The best way to explain its functionality is through an example.
